Name and Headquarters of the Association

Name of Association: “Ankara Kültürel Araştırmalar ve Etkinlikler Sosyal Yardımlaşma Derneği” (Ankara Cultural Research and Events Social Solidarity Association).
Short Name: “AKASYA”.
Headquarters: Ankara. The association may open branches and representative offices where deemed necessary.

Purpose and Operational Fields of the Association

AKASYA Association; is an independent non-governmental organization conducting cultural research, cultural events, educational activities, and social solidarity works aimed at preserving, living, and transferring national cultural and artistic heritage to future generations.

Our primary goals include developing projects in culture, education, and social responsibility to contribute to forming conscious, productive, and supportive individuals. Supporting artistic production, facilitating access to art, supporting lifelong learning, and promoting intangible cultural heritage to young generations are among our main principles.

Furthermore, we execute activities for the protection of natural assets and environmental health, combating erosion, preserving soil cover, and afforestation. We organize events supporting biodiversity and combating climate change.

Working Topics and Ongoing Activities

• Organizing conferences, panels, seminars, and exhibitions on culture, art, history, and environment.
• Providing scholarships and educational materials to students in need.
• Delivering social solidarity assistance in natural disasters and emergency situations.
• Executing joint projects with public institutions, universities, and NGOs.
• Publishing bulletins, magazines, books, and scientific research.

Right to Membership and Membership Procedures

Every real and legal person who has legal capacity, adopts the goals and principles of the association, and meets the criteria prescribed by legislation has the right to become a member. The Board of Directors decides on membership applications within a maximum of thirty days as approval or rejection.

Resignation and Termination of Membership

Every member has the right to resign from the association provided that notice is given in writing. Members acting contrary to bylaws, failing to comply with board decisions, or failing to pay membership dues despite notice may be expelled by decision of the Board of Directors.

The mandatory organs of the association are:

1. General Assembly
2. Board of Directors
3. Audit Board

Duties and Powers of the Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is elected by the General Assembly as five principal and five alternate members. The board is the executive and representative organ of the association. It prepares the budget, processes income and expenditure accounts, and submits the budget for the upcoming period to the General Assembly.

Duties and Powers of the Audit Board

The Audit Board is elected by the General Assembly as three principal and three alternate members. It audits whether activities are conducted in line with the purpose and working fields specified in the bylaws, and whether books and accounts comply with regulations.

Income Sources of the Association

• Member entry fees and annual dues.
• Voluntary donations and aid provided by real and legal persons.
• Income from publications, lotteries, concerts, sports events, and conferences organized by the association.
• Income derived from the association assets.

Bylaw Amendments and Dissolution

Bylaws may be amended by resolution of the General Assembly. A 2/3 majority of members entitled to attend the General Assembly is required to amend bylaws. In case of dissolution, association assets are transferred to a foundation or institution consistent with the purpose specified in the bylaws or determined by the General Assembly.
